DNCC sends 167 beggars to Rehab centres

Mobile courts of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in two days sent 167 beggars to rehabilitation centres, said a press release.
DNCC conducted drives at Gulshan, Banani, Tejgaon, Notun Bazar and Mirpur areas of the capital.
DNCC zonal executive officers and executive magistrates Md. Zulkar Nayan, Mahbub Hasan and executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan conducted. Officials of the Department of Social Services were also present during the drive.
A total of 97 beggars from Gulshan, Banani, Tejgaon, Notun Bazar and Mirpur on Wednesday and 70 beggars were sent to government shelters for rehabilitation on Tuesday.
Zonal Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Zulkar Nayan said, 'Despite declaring various areas of Dhaka as beggar-free, the number of beggars has increased in those areas recently. Especially in the Gulshan-Baridhara area, foreign nationals are being harassed. We have started the campaign, it will continue.”
