A view exchange meeting on the reform of Dhaka University titled 'Thoughts of Science Students-Teachers' was held on Tuesday in the auditorium of the Department of Plant Science.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Dhaka University Teachers Association organized this meeting.
Professor of Microbiology Department. Dr. Professor of Anthropology Department chaired by Sangeeta Ahmed. Zobaida Nasreen highlighted the various activities of Dhaka University Teachers Association. Professor of Microbiology Department. Mu. Manjurul Karim gave the welcome address. Associate Professor of Gene Engineering and Biotechnology Department. Mushtaq Ibne Ayub and Assistant Professor of Botany Department. Nadra Tabassum jointly presented the main article. Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed, Dean of Engineering and Technology Faculty. Upma Kabir and Associate Professor of Nutrition and Food Science Institute. Sumaiya Mamun participated in the discussion. Professor Robayet Ferdous of Mass Communication and Journalism conducted the program.
In the exchange of views, emphasis was placed on reforming the action plan of the university with the aim of dynamizing the education and research process of Dhaka University. In order to make Dhaka University one of the highest educational institutions, in addition to imparting theoretical knowledge to students, increasing practical skills, developing innovative energy, stopping political activities, accountability and decentralization of power, modernization of education system, enhancement of academic infrastructure, development of scientific infrastructure and maximum utilization of resources, housing Resolving crisis, increasing the overall security of the university, reforming the teacher recruitment and promotion system, establishing industry-university linkage center, launching research management wing, participating in government projects, taking initiatives to provide training and other facilities to the officers and employees, improving the relationship between teachers and students, in the canteen.
The meeting emphasized on reforms on various issues including improving food quality and ensuring safe water supply, encouraging international cooperation, increasing research opportunities, launching internship and educational support programs, teacher evaluation and digitization.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed expressed his sincere thanks to the Dhaka University teaching community for creating an opportunity to discuss the problems, advantages, crises and future course of action of Dhaka University on a comprehensive platform.
Referring to reading, reading and research as the main work of the university, he said, many students from remote areas of the country are enrolled in this university with the dream of building a future. University should be reformed and policies should be fixed to fulfill the expectations of the people by involving the state with the university. All should work together to make the students useful for the country and society.
It is to be noted that the teachers and students of various faculties including Faculty of Science, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University participated in this organized by the Dhaka University Teachers Association were present.
