Discussion meeting on DU Day held

The 104th Dhaka University Day will be celebrated on Monday through a coloirful program.

This year the theme of the day is 'Higher Education for Skill Development of Young Generation'. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Under the chairmanship of ASM Maqsood Kamal, various programs to celebrate the day were taken in a meeting held at Abdul Matin Chowdhury virtual classroom on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Treasurer Prof. Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Senate and Syndicate members, Deans of various faculties, Principals of various halls, Chairman of various departments were present.

According to the programme, teachers, students, officers and employees from all halls and hostels of the university will gather at Smriti Chirantan Chatwar with a procession at 9.30 am on that day.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal led the the teachers, students, alumni, officers and staff of the university and it will march to Payra Chatwar in front of the Student-Teacher Center.

The Vice-Chancellor will formally inaugurate the various programs of the University Day as the chief guest at Payra Chatwar in front of the Student-Teacher Center at 10 am. In the inaugural ceremony, hoisting of the national flag, flag of the university and halls, flying of pigeons, balloons and festoons, cutting of the cake and the participation of teachers and students of the music department will perform the theme song and the opening song of the university.

After the opening ceremony, a discussion meeting will be held at 10.30 am in the student-teacher center auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal will preside over the discussion. University teachers-students, alumni and officials-employees will participate in the discussion meeting.

On the occasion of Dhaka University Day celebration, the University entrance from Neelkhet and Fuller Road will be closed for vehicular traffic from 9.30 am to 10.30 am on that day. All are being requested to use alternative roads during this time.

On the occasion of celebrating the day, various important buildings and roads including Vice-Chancellor Building, Curzon Hall, Art Building and Student-Teacher Center will be illuminated. Besides, construction of archways and decoration of road dividers and islands will be done at various entrances of the university.
It should be noted that the education program of Dhaka University started on July 1, 1921.
