Bangladesh Coast Guard has detained one smuggler along with 3,170 liters of illegal octane worth approximately 4 lakh taka at Bridge Ghat in Chattogram
Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid disclosed this through a press release on Friday afternoon.
According to the press release , based on confidential information,at midnight 12:00 AM, Coast Guard Base Chattogram conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to Bridge Ghat under Sadar Ghat Police Station in Chattogram. During the operation, smugglers were observed unloading illegal octane from a boat in the said area on Friday .
Sensing the presence of Coast Guard members, the smugglers launched a sudden attack on them.
The Coast Guard operation team managed to detain one smuggler along with 3,170 liters of illegal octane worth approximately 3 lakh 90 thousand taka from the scene.
The detained smuggler, Md. Shahid (30), is a resident of Chattogram. The process of taking legal action against the seized octane and the detained smuggler is underway.
To maintain the law and order situation in the country, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been conducting 24-hour patrols. Through this, the law and order situation in the coastal and riverbank areas under the Coast Guard's jurisdiction has significantly improved. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future.
