Upon his arrival in Chattogram, newly -appointed City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain declared his dedication to serving the city’s 7 million residents, emphasizing that he does not see himself as a "city father" but rather as a public servant.
He made this commitment during a reception at Chattogram Railway Station on Tuesday.
"Chattogram is not my city alone; it belongs to its 7 million people. Let us join hands to build a green, clean, and healthy city together. Give me time, and I will work tirelessly to fulfill this promise," Dr. Hossain said, expressing his hope for the community’s support and blessings.
Addressing his party members, he said, "You have endured hardships for 18 years, unable to spend time with your families and often struggling financially. I have seen your sacrifices, and I can never repay this debt." He also accused the government of "widespread killings, disappearances, and persecutions across the country," noting that "millions of party members have been entangled in legal cases but have not wavered in their ideals."
