BNNRC CEO Bazlur Rahman joins 4th Global High Level Ministerial Cofce on AMR in Jeddah
Staff Correspondent
AHM Bazlur Rahman, CEO of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) received accreditation in person to participate in and speak at the 4th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and the second Annual Plenary Assembly of the AMR Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform, which will be held from 14 to 17 November 2024 in Ritz Carlton, Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The 4th Ministerial Conference will be entitled "From Declaration to Implementation," Accelerating Actions through Multi-sectoral Partnerships for the Containment of AMR. The conference will be organized around four key themes: (i) Surveillance and stewardship, (ii) Capacity development, (iii) Access and affordability, and (iv) Better global governance.
The Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organized the Ministerial Conference in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the 2nd Plenary Assembly of the AMR Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform organized by back-to-back with the Quadripartite organizations (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UN Environment Program (UNEP), World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).
The Conference will be a pivotal moment in our collective efforts, focusing on the crucial implementation of the actions agreed upon at the United Nations High-Level Meeting on September 26th of the UN General Assembly. As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supports the critical work of the WHO, the Global Leaders Group on AMR, and the Quadripartite, focusing on an action-oriented declaration from the United Nations High-Level Meeting on AMR in September is essential.
This Conference will allow delegates to exchange knowledge and best practices, showcase their work, and contribute with their expertise to advancing the AMR agenda. Therefore, participants can attend both events to ensure cross-pollination of ideas, dialogue, and more significant synergies between policy and implementation.
Since 2020, BNNRC has been actively supporting the efforts of the UN and CSO/Media to raise awareness of and communicate the threat of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The goal is to bring stakeholders closer to the UN's work and make them an integral part of our mission in line with the "No Time to Wait: Securing the Future from Drug-Resistant Infections" report by the Interagency Coordination Group (IACG) on Antimicrobial Resistance, which was submitted to the Secretary-General of the United Nations in April 2019.
