Barishal Dist administration launches drive against banned polythene shopping bags

Barishal District administration launched an operation in the new market area of the city at 11 -30 am on Sunday against the banned polythene bags.
As per the previous announcement of the government, a campaign was conducted in the market against polythene/polypropylene shopping bags banned nationwide from November 1 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Barishal Mohammad Delwar Hossain.
He sought everyone's cooperation to stop the use of all types of polythene to protect the environment. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Barisal Lusikant Hajong, Deputy Commissioner Office Barisal Assistant Commissioner Md. Shahid Ullah, Mohammad Lutfar Rahman, Md. Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan, officials of Directorate of Environment Barisal and many others were present. Polythene bags have been banned from November 1 in raw markets. Legal action will be taken against those who disobey this order of the government.
District administration initiative to stop the use of polythene bags is continuing monitoring activities. Besides, operations will be conducted against polythene producers and sellers. Earlier, polythene or polypropylene bags were banned in Supershops from October 1.
