A human chain was formed in connection with the attack, vandalism and looting of the residence of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Hawaria Alipur village of Ward No. 4 of Behili Union of Jamalganj Upazila of Sunamganj.

This human chain was formed on Tuesday afternoon at the initiative of the people of the village.

Speakers in the human chain said that on September 14 at around 2 am, Shafiqul Miar stole an engine-powered fishing boat from the Alipur river. When Shafiqul Mia's family members did not find the boat until the afternoon of September 15, Hay regretted and talked to each other in an excited tone. At this time, Khalil Mia Gongra, a resident of the village, became excited. They came and got angry and left.

The speakers said that Khalil Mia Gongra came to the house in the evening with the purpose of a planned fight and again insulted him in non-verbal language. At one stage, Khalil Mia (55), Pintu Mia (50), Ali Ahmad (55), Raju Mia (27), Badal Mia (45), Shahid Mia (27) thrashed Gangra. Rafiqul Islam's elder brother Shafiqul Islam (65) and his son Zamirul Islam (22) were seriously injured in the fight. Later, when the injured were admitted to Tahirpur Health Complex, the doctor on duty referred them to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for better treatment.

Speakers also said that Khalil Mia Gongra attacked, looted and vandalized Rafiqul's residence at approximately 11 o'clock on September 16. In this incident, innumerable rice sacks, 7 maunds of rice, cash, gold ornaments, 4 ceiling fans, 4 wooden couches, 8 chairs, 2 tables, 1 fishing boat and other furniture were looted from the residence. At the same time, Khalil Mia Gongra ran away by destroying the sheep around the tinsheet room, vandalizing the partition inside the room, vandalizing the electricity meter as well.

During the human chain, the family members of the victims and the villagers demanded that those involved in this terror attack be brought under the law and be punished with fair investigation.

Investigating Officer Jahangir Hossain, sub-inspector of Jamalganj police station, said, "I have sent the evidence found on the ground in the form of a report to the court. However, as there was no one in the plaintiff's house in this robbery incident, furniture worth about 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees was looted along with daily necessities.
