Army operation to rescue abductees in Khagrachari, 7 arrested

The search for 6 people, including 5 students of Chittagong University who were abducted in Khagrachari is still ongoing. 

To rescue the abducted students, members of the joint force conducted a raid on the UPDF hideout and recovered a large amount of training equipment, ammunition and documents.

The joint force has arrested 7 people in this incident.


On Monday morning,  the joint force conducted a raid on a hideout of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), a regional organization of the hills, in Purnachandrakarbaripara of Bhaibon Chha Union in the district headquarters.

Security force sources said that based on secret information, the joint force found the UPDF hideout in the area. Seeing the lock closed, the army became suspicious and with the help of the people of the neighborhood, they broke the lock and searched the house.  During this time, a large amount of training equipment including donation receipts, laptops, mobile phones, military uniforms were recovered.

Upon receiving the information, Khagrachari Region Commander Brigadier General Sharif Md. Aman Hasan inspected the scene.
An officer of the security forces leading the operation, on condition of anonymity, said that every area will be searched if necessary to rescue the kidnapped students and the operation will continue.


It is mentioned  that last Wednesday (April 16), 6 people, including 5 students of Chittagong University, were abducted from the Giriful area of the city while returning to the campus from Khagrachari. The rival organization JSS blamed the UPDF for this inciden
