The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a drive against Nurul Alam, Deputy Director of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Noakhali Seed Marketing Office, on corruption charges.
The drive was conducted from 11 am on Tuesday at the BADC Seed Marketing Office in the district town and the BADC Agro Service Center adjacent to Mannannagar.
The operation was led by ACC's Noakhali district branch deputy assistant director Chinmoy Chakraborty. A three-member team led by him participated in the operation.
It is learnt that several corruption allegations have been raised against Nurul Alam, Deputy Director of Noakhali Seed Marketing Office, in various media outlets, including opening fake bank accounts in the names of deceased persons and expatriates, embezzling workers' wages, withdrawing money by showing up without working, receiving allowances in the name of irregular workers and farmers, purchasing low-quality seeds, fake tenders and bribery transactions. The ACC team questioned the officials, employees and workers of the concerned office and verified the necessary documents. Several important documents were collected during the operation.
After the operation, ACC Deputy Assistant Director Chinmoy Chakraborty told reporters, "Every complaint raised against BADC Deputy Director Nurul Alam has been seriously investigated. We have collected documents of salary withdrawal in the name of deceased and expatriate persons, fake attendance, and tender fraud. After verification, the commission will take further legal action."
Denying the allegations, Nurul Alam, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Noakhali Seed Marketing Office, told Dainik Desher Katha, "All the allegations against me are completely false, baseless and motivated. I have no involvement in these incidents.
A malicious group has spread this false information and news to defame me and humiliate me socially. I strongly hope that such lies will not be repeated against any innocent person in the future."
