A drive by the Fakirhat Model Police Station in Bagerhat has arrested three professional cow thieves. Four cows have been recovered as per their confessions.

The arrested persons were handed over to the Bagerhat learned court on Sunday morning.

The arrested persons are- A. Salam (50), son of the deceased Nur Mohammad of Baliadanga area of Fakirhat upazila, Humayun Mir (50), son of Zafar Ali Mir of Kahalpur area of Mollahat upazila, and Billal Arafat (40), son of the deceased Siddiqur Rahman.

Police said that three members of a cow theft syndicate were arrested from the Faltita area of the upazila on Saturday (January 18) evening.

Later, four cows were recovered from the Mollahat area as per their confessions. In this regard, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the police station Ashiq Reza filed a case with the police station. Police said that there are multiple cases of cow theft against the arrested persons in different police stations.

OC of Fakirhat Model Police Station SM Alamgir Kabir said that recently, incidents of cow theft from the cowsheds of different houses have occurred in several areas of Fakirhat Upazila. Due to which the police continued the operation in different areas. On Saturday, an operation was conducted in the Faltita area based on secret information. Three professional cow thieves were arrested in the operation.

Later, according to their confessions, four cows were recovered. The real owners of the cows have been found. The cows will be handed over to them. The official said that the operation will continue in the public interest.
