2 killed in city’s Uttara road accident

Two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in capital’s Uttara on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Tayab Ali, 60, of Melandah upazila of Jamalpur district and passenger Mahifur Rahman Ratul, 28, an employee of a private company.
Sahin Al Rashid, duty officer (SI) of Uttara West Police Station, said the accident took place when the private car collided with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw at sector no 13, leaving Tayyab dead on the spot and three others injured.
Later, Ratul succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital around 10am, he said.
Police seized the car and the three-wheeler and also detained the car driver soon after the accident, he added.
Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge (inspector) of DMCH police outpost, said that the bodies were kept at the DMCH morgue.
