180 Rohingyas relocated to transit camp from Tumbru

The government has started transferring stranded Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh territory from a zero-line refugee camp – amid intense gunfights between two Myanmar armed groups – to transit camps of Cox’s Bazar.
A total of 180 registered Rohingyas from 35 families were transferred to Ghumdhum transit camp yesterday.
Jahangir Aziz, chairman of Ghumdhum union parishad, said a national task force started moving the Rohingyas yesterday morning.
At present, 2970 Rohingyas are staying at Tambru border area. Among them, 2,098 Rohingyas from 377 families are registered while the rest 872 are unregistered.
On January 18, the firing started between Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) on the zero-line of Konarpara at Tumbru border.
A Rohingya man was shot dead while two others sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight. They were residents of Jadimuda Camp-26 in Teknaf upazila of the district.
Some 4,280 Rohingya have been residing at the zero-line camp since 2017.
