10 injured as tourist jeep falls into ditch in Sajek

A jeep carrying tourists fell into a ravine on its way back from Sajek Valley in the Rangamati Hills. The accident occurred in the Hauz Para area of Sajek on Saturday (December 7) morning. It is learnt that 10 tourists were injured in the accident.
The injured are Zakir Hossain (31), Saiful (27), Monayem (33), Kamal (27), Shakil (26), Arfan (28), Sabuj (27), Israfil (23), Ujjal (28), and Sohel (30).They all work at the Dhamrai factory of Akij Food and Beverage Limited.
Confirming the incident, Sajek Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kanak Sarkar said, "The tourists were returning to Khagrachari in the morning after a trip to Sajek. Suddenly, the jeep lost control and overturned and fell into a 30-foot ditch on the side of the road. At that time, 10 out of 12 passengers in the car, including the driver, were injured. The injured in the accident have been rescued and sent to the hospital.
Khagrachhari Modern District Sadar Hospital RMO Ripol Bappi Chakma said, 10 victims of an accident on Sajek Road have come to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital. One of the injured will be sent to Chittagong Medical College as his condition is critical.
Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shirin Akhter said, "There were 10-12 tourists in the jeep. The injured in the accident have been given treatment.
