Violence is increasing day by day all over the world. A study has shown that one in every six students in the world is a victim of cyber-bullying and 79% victims of cyber-bullying are teenagers.
Additionally, there are violence against women, child marriage and the dowry system. Many people suffer from depression due to online harassment or cyber-bullying . Some of them, being unable to bear the depression, choose the path of suicide. As a result, the suicide rate is continuously increasing and the rate of child marriage in the country is 51.40% for those under the age of 18 and 15.50% for those under the age of 15.
When the whole world is in the grip of cyber-bullying, violence against women and child marriage, a young group in Jashore formed the YAV Foundation.
Cyber-bullying , a global epidemic, prompted Rohit Roy, the founder of YAV, creating the innovative mobile app "YAV".
Through the app, YAV has solved problems of more than fifty young victims and provided mental health support to over two hundred young individuals, creating a stir among students. Additionally, during times of national crisis, they have stood by helpless people. To create employment for women, they established the e-commerce company "Rangers Mart" and to amplify the voices of youth, they created "Rangers Voice". They dream of branding Jashore as an 'Orange City.' In response to the question about 'what is Orange City?'' the foundation’s chairman, Rohit Roy said that just as white symbolizes purity and peace, green symbolizes vitality representing evergreen Bangladesh, similarly, Orange represents anti-violence. This is where YAV's vision of building Orange City begins. Under the leadership of Rohit Roy, the visionary behind this initiative, YAV is tirelessly working to build up a violence-free Jashore and brand Jashore as an Orange City. This initiative was inaugurated with a grand event and procession on October 28th of last year.
They are working on 'Art for Humanities' to build a humane society through the light of art. Recently, in this spirit, YAV Foundation has established a vision of humanity by successfully completing the "Concert for Anti-Violence" in support of a cancer patient. Additionally, to brand Jashore as an Orange City, this charity concert was held at the historic Town Hall Maidan on October 18, 2024. The main attraction of the event was the country's most popular band, 'Sonar Bangla Circus'. The organizers were inspired by the large crowd and expressed hope that this event would contribute to branding Jashore as an Orange City. The Yavians were also excited to make such an event a success. YAV has already conducted activities in ten districts across the country, including Dhaka, Khulna, Magura, and Jhenaidah, beyond the borders of Jashore.
YAV Foundation is ensuring legal assistance to solve and prevent all the problems of the youth. Apart from Rohit Roy, a group of young entrepreneurs and social workers including Sumon Hossain Zino, Shammi Akhter, Joy Dutta, Rumana Nowrin, Shahriar Utsob, Shaharear suvo, Ash'am Hasan Adon and Tasjid Hasan Adorsho are actively involved in this initiative. YAV Foundation is playing a crucial role in preventing child marriage, cyberbullying and reducing the tendency of suicide. The efforts of YAV squad members to establish Jashore as a healthy, developed and safe city are highly commendable. During the 2020 Corona pandemic, YAV Foundation stood by the common people and provided various types of assistance, proving their sense of humanitarian responsibility. Additionally, YAV's activities include distributing cold clothes to those suffering in winter, distributing Iftar during the month of Ramadan, providing food to old age homes, orphanages, madrasas, organizing awareness programs and conducting campaigns in various educational institutions. In any disaster, such as participating in the July uprising, YAV has made a significant contribution to the country through its members. After the victory, Yav's members have worked tirelessly to reform the country anew. They have carried out various social activities, including cleaning garbage with their own hands, planting trees, controlling traffic, painting graffiti, organizing protest rallies and lighting candles at the Shaheed Minar in memory of the martyrs. During floods, Yavians also worked day and night to help the flood-affected people, standing by the helpless with a sense of humanity. Their unwavering efforts have helped bring about a positive change in society and contributed to the development of the country.
This is how the YAV Foundation is moving forward. Their goal is to reach every district of the country, starting from Jashore.
Creating new employment opportunities, preventing suicide by eliminating all types of crimes and above all, working with dedication to ensure the creation of a safe, violence-free society is the main goal of every 'Yavian '.
