
Vaccine crisis at health complex: 17 injured by fox bites in Madan

Seventeen people, including women and children, were injured in a single night due to fox bites in Madan, Netrokona.
The incidents occurred between Wednesday evening in the Changaon Union of the upazila, leaving patients and their relatives distressed.
The injured have been identified as Tanna Akter (10), Morsalin (17), Shifa Akter (29), Salma Akter (24), Jesmin Akter (45), Ershad Mia (35), Shamim Mia (38), Angur Mia (50), Taijul (6), Asab Ali (75), Maria Akter (3), Liza Akter (9), Abir (2), and Kaiyum Mia (40). All of them are residents of Ratnapur, Shahapur, and Aliyarpur villages within Changaon Union.
Ershad, Angur Mia, and Lima Akter, who were among the injured, recounted their ordeal: "We were in front of our house after Isha prayers when a fox suddenly bit us and fled. When we came to Madan Health Complex for treatment, we couldn't get any vaccine. The doctor only dressed the wound and provided painkillers. We were told to go to Netrakona Sadar Hospital for the vaccine."
The unavailability of vaccines at Madan Hospital has caused significant frustration among the injured and their families.
Dr. Tayeb Hossain, R.M.O of Madan Health Complex said, "On Wednesday night, 16-17 patients injured by fox bites came to the emergency department for treatment. We provided them with primary treatment. Since the hospital does not have vaccines, they were advised to obtain them from Netrokona Sadar Hospital."
