Patuakhali 250 -bed hospital building has a medical waste dustbin at the entrance and there is no dumping station for safe management. Dustbins within only 20 feet of the hospital building are constantly releasing stench and germs into the air in these areas.

It is seen on the spot that the dustbin is full of dirt, but the hospital waste is also lying outside the dustbin. The same dustbin contains all kinds of garbage including injection syringes, needles, saline, cannula, bandage gauze, blood bags filled with blood, various food scraps, can shells, plastic bottles and polythene. Millions of flies around the dustbin. At least ten cows and calves have entered the dustbin and are eating food by scattering the dirt. Garbage is spread on pedestrian walkways and vehicular roads next to dustbins. An old local woman collects saline pipes and plastic syringes from the dustbin. It seems that there is no one to take care of the garbage in the government hospital.

When the man goes to the medicine ward, he sees a large bucket with leftover food and medical supplies. Which is then prepared by the cleaners to throw in the dustbin. According to the rules, plastic, clinical waste and food scraps should be placed in separate garbage bins.

Khabir Howladar, a passerby, said, "We feel very bad about dumping garbage like this and it creates a lot of stench. These wastes can be mixed with soil and water in different ways to release disease germs. It is impossible to walk from here without stuffing your nose and mouth.

Nursing Supervisor Aarti Rani Mondal said that all types of garbage from each ward are thrown into the dust bin by the cleaners. From there the municipal people take them as per schedule.

Hospital Supervisor Dr. Dilruba Yasmin said, more than 500 patients receive services from us every day. Dumping all garbage from each ward in our dustbin. From there, the municipal system brings their vehicles and collects the garbage.
