Tk 2 lakh funed for cutting hill soil in Barlekha

A mobile court has fined two people two lakh taka for illegally cutting and transporting dune soil in Barlekha Upazila of Moulvibazar.
They are Jamal Uddin, a tractor owner of Tilpara UP Member of Biyanibazar upazila and Shahid Ahmed, a tractor driver resident of Khabira village of Barlekha upazila.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Jahangir Hossain conducted this operation in Haldiarpar village on the bank of Sonai River in Nijbahadurpur Union of Upazila on Tuesday afternoon. Sub-Inspector (SI) of Barlekha police station Zaheed Ahmed was present in this operation.
According to mobile court sources, Upazila Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Jahangir Hossain raided Haldiarpar area after receiving secret information. At that time, he cut the soil of the dune and arrested two people for transportation. Later, a mobile court was immediately set up and they were fined a total of Tk 2 lakh.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Jahangir Hossain confirmed the truth of the campaign and said, "This kind of campaign will continue against those who cut and transport the dune soil illegally."
