BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today extended thanks and gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for providing transportation and logistics that carried his ailing mother Begum Khaleda Zia, chairperson of BNP, from Dhaka to London on January 7 (Tuesday).

"I am deeply grateful to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, for graciously providing transportation and logistics for my mother, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia," he said in a social media post from his verified X handle.

"On behalf of my family and the people of Bangladesh, I extend our heartfelt thanks for this support. We look forward to fostering lasting, multifaceted ties between Bangladesh and Qatar."

The BNP chief was taken to London by a special air ambulance given by Qatar's Emir on Wednesday leaving Dhaka on Tuesday.
