Three students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology started a hunger strike, demanding the removal of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Muhammad Masud.

They started the hunger strike in front of the central library at around 1 pm on Wednesday . Thinking about the students' illness, SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury went to the hunger strike site that afternoon and requested them to break their hunger strike. The students told the VC that they will not break their hunger strike until their demand is met.

University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shajedul Karim, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain, Director of Student Advice and Guidance Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashaque Mia, and Proctor Professor Mokhlesur Rahman were present at that time.

The students on hunger strike are Polash Bakhtiar, Hafijul Islam, and Rashid Abrar.

The students on hunger strike said that the students of KUET are protesting to achieve their just demand. They are now on a hunger strike to death. We are on a hunger strike to death in solidarity with their demand. Our hunger strike will continue until the VC of KUET resigns.

In this regard, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury stated, "We are concerned about the students on hunger strike. We have made efforts to end their hunger strike to prevent them from falling ill. However, they remain adamant about their demand. We are closely monitoring our students' well-being and have already informed the medical center to ensure that any issues are addressed and students can receive treatment if necessary."
