Secretariat fire: Administrative Service Association demands punishment for perpetrators

The Bangladesh Administrative Service Association (BASA) has demanded exemplary punishment of those who were involved in the Secretariat fire incident.
Condemning the incident, BASA, in a statement, said that it was unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh.
“Since certain allies of the fascist AL still have access to the Secretariat, they are able to enter it. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate whether they have any connection to the incident,” the statement added.
Recently, the Ansar protests surrounding the Secretariat and “fascist-backed” forces have been seen attempting to destabilize the government by spreading various forms of propaganda on social media against the advisers of the interim government, it said.
In light of this, it is crucial to conduct a thorough investigation to determine whether this anti-national group is involved in the incident. It now seems urgent to free the Secretariat from the influence of fascist allies, said the statement.
The statement also mentioned that members of the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre play a key role in implementing the government’s policies and plans, from grassroots administration to the Secretariat.
“Since the interim government assumed office at the critical juncture following the July Uprising, officials of the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre have been working tirelessly to implement the agenda and policies of the revolutionary government in both the field administration and the Secretariat.
Moving forward, they are committed to playing a leading role in ensuring the stability of the government, including the implementation of reform activities, and in building a non-discriminatory, people-oriented state by establishing good governance at all levels, the statement said.
The Bangladesh Administrative Service Association hopes that the interim government will succeed in taking comprehensive measures to keep the activities of the Secretariat free from tyranny, including conducting a fair investigation into the fire incident.
