RU teacher Taher murder: SC upholds death for two

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Dr Mia Mohammad Mohiuddin and another person in Rajshahi University (RU) teacher Dr S Taher Ahmed murder case.
The full bench of the Appellate Division of the SC headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order on Tuesday.
Dr S Taher Ahmed, professor of geology and mining, was killed on February 1, 2006 at the age of 59, and police recovered his body from a septic tank well behind his campus residence on February 3.
On April 21, 2013, the High Court upheld death sentence for Dr Miah Mohiuddin and Taher Ahmed's house caretaker Md Jahangir Alam after finding them guilty of murdering Taher Ahmed.
