Plot Corruption Allocation: ACC begins probe against Hasina, her family

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate allegations of corruption against ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, and their family members over plot allocation in the Purbachal project.
Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeed Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq and daughter Azmina Siddique allegedly acquired six 10-katha plots illegally in Purbachal New City Project.
ACC Director General (DG) Md Akhtar Hossain on Thursday told the reporters that the commission took the decision to investigate the allegation based on evidences.
Earlier on 24 December, the ACC initiated an enquiry into corruption allegations against Sheikh Hasina and her family members for embezzlement and laundering money of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project.
According to Information from various sources, the project has been marred by financial irregularities amounting to$5 billion.
The report said Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy and niece Tulip Siddiq embezzled $5 billion from the overpriced $12.65 billion.
On December 22, the anti-corruption watchdog also launched an investigation into allegations of laundering $300 million abroad against Sheikh Hasina and her son, Joy.
