Prof. AKM Shahidul Islam Trust Patuakhali meeting held

A meeting of Prof. AKM Shahidul Islam Trust's life and general members and well-wishers was held and a cake cutting ceremony on the occasion of his 75th birth anniversary was also held on Thursday at Mallika Party Center.
Former Prof AKM Shahidul Islam presided over the meeting and it was moderated by General Secretary Adv Sohrab Hossain, lifelong member of the Trust.
Bauphal Upazila Secondary Education Officer (PRL) spoke among others. Nazmul Haque, Duprak Patuakhali General Secretary Principal Aminul Islam Siraj, Patuakhali Zilla Parishad former member and panel chairman Kamrun Nahar Jasmine, Sonali Bank Patuakhali branch manager Md. Zillur Rahman, vice-president of the trust, freedom fighter Atul Chandra Das, engineer Md. Shah Jahan and others.
Prof. AKM Shahidul, former principal of Patuakhali Government College, aims to provide medical assistance to poor and helpless people in the society, financial assistance to distressed women, assistance to orphans, contributing to the development of religious institutions, scholarships for poor meritorious students, burial of the bereft or poor people.
Islam donated Tk 25 lakh of his retirement-welfare fund in 2016 to the Prof. AKM Shahidul Islam Trust named after him. formed Professor AKM Shahidul Islam, the founder of the trust, said that after providing financial support of Tk 20 lakh to the mentioned sector, the trust currently has Tk 40 lakh savings. The trust has 78 members including 36 life members.
