Private car catches fire in Hatirjheel

A private car caught fire in the capital’s Hatirjheel area on Tuesday noon.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters, the fire originated from the engine of the car around 12:25pm but the fire service vehicle could not reach the spot even after 30 minutes due to traffic congestion on the road.
Lima Khanam, the duty officer at the Fire Service Headquarters, confirming the matter said, two fire fighting units were dispatched from the Tejgaon station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Raju of Hatirjheel Police Station reported that a private car caught fire on the Hatirjheel Metropolitan Bridge due to a mechanical fault.
As a result of the incident, traffic movement on the bridge came under halt, Raju added.
