Sonagazi Model Police arrested a man for raping a housewife in Char Sahavikari village under Sonagazi Model Police Station and blackmailing her for 58 lakh taka for four years by threatening to publish it on social media recently.

The arrested person is Zakir Hossain Shuvo (27), director of Nusaipa Gift Corner and Studio of the same village.

The accused in the case had earlier extorted a total of 58 lakh 50 thousand taka, including cash and 8 tons of gold ornaments, by threatening to spread the objectionable pictures and videos of the mobile phone on social media and raped the housewife several times after showing the said objectionable videos. In this way, he embezzled all the money earned by the housewife's husband in his exile. The housewife was threatened with killing her daughter and took loans from various banks and NGOs and extorted about 58 lakh 50 thousand taka from her on interest.

Recently, the accused blackmailed the housewife again and demanded another 15 lakh taka, but the housewife was unable to pay the money and fled to an unknown place. In this context, the housewife filed a case under the Pornography Act, accusing 3 people. In the context of the said case, the accused Zakir Hossain Shuvo (27) was arrested by the Sonagazi Model Police Station at 10 pm yesterday from in front of his own shop in Char Sahavikari village and recovered 1 mobile phone, 2 SIM cards, 1 tab, 2 hard disks and 1 pen drive from him, which were found to contain objectionable pictures and videos of the housewife. An application for 05 (five) days police remand of the accused has been filed in the learned court.

The arrested accused are- Zakir Hossain Shuvo (27), father-Mobarak Hossain Molla Mia, mother-Shamsunnahar, Sang-Char Sahavikari (Ismail Lakir Bari), P.O. Kachari Pukur, Ward No. 4, Char Darbesh Union, Thana-Sonagazi, Feni.

It is to be noted that under the guidance of Feni District Superintendent of Police Md. Habibur Rahman, under the overall supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police Taslim Hussain of Sonagazi Circle, SI (Retd)/Nidul Chandra Kapali led the operation under the leadership of OC Md. Bayezid Akon.
