Entering the Saghata police station in Gaibandha at around 9 pm on Thursday, a man was stabbed to death by Assistant Deputy Inspector (ASI) Mohsin Ali.
However, the Fire Service recovered the body of the man from the bottom of the pond at Saghata Pilot High School on Friday morning.
It is reported that the young man entered the police station at 9 pm on Thursday and tried to take away the constable Sarajul Islam's rifle. He stabbed ASI Mohsin Ali when he was barred. Then he ran and jumped in the pond of the school next to the police station. Later, locals and police searched overnight. His body was recovered from the pond of the school in the morning.
Deputy Assistant Director of Gaibandha Fire Service and Civil Defense. Mahmudul Hasan said the rescue operation began shortly after the incident. It is believed that the body was stuck under the garbage. Later, when he was taken to Saghata Upazila Health Complex, the doctor declared him dead.
OC of Saghata Police Station Badsha Alam said, initially the young man was mentally unstable. His identity has not yet been confirmed. However, an entry card from the Gaibandha Technical Training Center found in his pocket revealed that his name was Saju Mia, father Dulal Mia and mother Rikta Begum.
Efforts are underway to confirm the identity by combining the information and pictures of the admit card
