
Kishoreganj Upazila declared free from child marriage, child labor

Kishoreganj Upazila of Nilphamari has been declared free from child marriage and child labor. The announcement was made officially at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom on Tuesday afternoon.
The declaration of child marriage and child labor-free was organized at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom with the theme “Build a beautiful future for children, let the dream of building a child marriage-free Bangladesh start from the village”. Upazila Women Affairs Officer Nurunnahar Shahzadi and Shishu Chayanika hosted the event, with Upazila Executive Officer Pritam Saha as the chief guest. World Vision Bangladesh Country Director Suresh Butlet, Senior Director Operations Chandan Zakaria Gomez, Rangpur and Mymensingh Region Deputy Director Jenny Mildred d'Cruze, Coordinator Advocacy and Social Accountability Tanjimul Islam.Nilphamari ACO Senior Manager Anukul Chandra Barman. Kishoreganj AP Manager Sagor D Costa, Program Officer Anwar Hossain Gram Samity President Altanur Hossain Upazila Family Planning Officer Dr. Neel Ratan Deb and others spoke. In addition, government officials, teachers, public representatives, civil society, journalists, guardians, leaders of social organizations and people from different levels were present at the meeting.
Zakia Akhter, a child who was saved from child marriage, shared her experience. On the other hand, Mostakim, a child who was sent to school from child labor, told the story of her difficult life.
It was held in collaboration with World Vision Bangladesh Kishoreganj AP and organized by the Upazila Administration.
At the event, the Upazila was officially declared child labor-free and 6 unions were officially declared child marriage-free. Later, an agreement was signed between the upazila administration and World Vision.
