
Illegal sand extraction in Sarta Canal in Raozan, Tk 50,000 fined

A mobile court has seized a sand-carrying vehicle and fined the driver Tk 50,000 for illegally extracting sand from the Sarta Canal in the Hachharghat section of Haldia Union in Raozan, Chittagong.
The sand-carrying vehicle was seized during the operation of the Raojan Amir Hat mobile court on Monday afternoon.
The operation was conducted by Raojan Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Anqing Marma. He said that the upazila administration's operation against illegal sand extraction and soil cutting will continue. On the other hand, he monitored the market to control the price hike during the holy month of Ramadan.
Raozan Police Station Police Member and Sanitary Inspector and Food Safety Inspector Atiqur Rahman were present during the operation of the mobile court. At that time, two traders were fined a total of Tk 2,500 in two cases for not displaying price lists in a visible place and storing expired food items at Amir Hat market. He said that regular market monitoring will be carried out to keep prices under control during the holy month of Ramadan.
