Gangachara Upazila team of Rangpur became champions in the final match of July 36 Gold Cup Football Tournament held at Rangpur Stadium. They achieved this glory by defeating Rangpur Sadar Upazila team by 2-1 goals. This final match was held on Wednesday afternoon.
Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan was the chief guest at this final match and award distribution ceremony in the presence of a large number of spectators at Rangpur Stadium.
Among others present at the time were Shaheed Abu Sayeed's father Maqbul Hossain, Rangpur Range DIG of Police Aminul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal.
In the final match, Yunus scored the first goal for Gangachara Football Team to take the team ahead. Jewel of Sadar Upazila scored a goal in the 20th minute of the match to bring the game back to parity. Then, in the 60th minute of the second half of the match, Yasin of Gangachara team scored the second goal and took the team to the verge of victory.
Manik of Gangachara team won the Man of the Match award in the game and Mehedi of Sadar Upazila was selected as the best player of the tournament. After the game, the sports advisor handed over the trophies to the players of the champion and runner-up teams.
