
Armed robber arrested with police’s looted foreign pistol in Maheshkhali

Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested an armed robber with a looted foreign-made pistol originally belonging to the police in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid, Media Officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, informed this in a press release on Friday noon.
Based on secret intelligence, a special operation was conducted by Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Maheshkhali at 2:30 AM on Friday in the area adjacent to JM Ghat Dhalar Mukh in Shaplapur under Maheshkhali Police Station.
During the operation, upon sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the robbers present in the area attempted to flee into the deep hills in a scattered manner. The Coast Guard team chased them and managed to arrest one robber named Abdul Mannan alias Nunaiya (32). He was caught with one looted 9mm foreign pistol, one pistol magazine, and two rounds of live ammunition. The arrested individual is a resident of the Kalarmarchhara area of Maheshkhali. According to sources, he has multiple cases filed against him under various charges, including murder and the Arms Act, at different police stations.
Legal proceedings are currently underway regarding the arrested robber and the seized items.
Bangladesh Coast Guard maintains 24/7 patrols to ensure law and order across the country. As a result, the overall security situation in coastal and riverine areas under the Coast Guard's jurisdiction has improved significantly, especially in curbing robbery. He affirmed that such operations by the Coast Guard will continue in the future to prevent criminal activities.
