Police arrested six Chhatra League leaders and activists for holding a flash procession in Netrokona, which has been declared a ban.

Netrokona Model Police Station OC Kazi Shah Newaz told reporters that on January 3, at approximately 6:20 am, 15/20 leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League Netrokona district branch led by Kaushik Roy, joint convener of the banned organization for terrorist activities, took out a flash procession from Masjid Galir Road in Baro Bazar in Netrokona district town.

They chanted various slogans against the government and headed towards Shaheed Minar via Choto Bazar. Upon receiving the information, the patrol police of Netrokona Model Police Station immediately went to the spot and dispersed the procession. Later, the Netrokona Model Police Station reviewed the video footage and collected information locally and conducted raids at various places in the district town.

They arrested Chinmoy Sarkar, son of Babul Sarkar, former vice-president of the district Chhatra League, from Nagra Baroi Para area, who was participating in the procession. (27), District Chhatra League co-sports secretary Sandip Sarkar (25), son of Sajal Sarkar of Bara Bazar area, former information and research secretary of Municipal Chhatra League Joy Saha (25), son of Durga Charan Saha of Bara Bazar area, District Chhatra League member Sindh Banik Vishal (25), son of the late Rakhal Chandra Banik of Bara Bazar area, Municipal Chhatra League member Rahul Roy (24), son of Krishna Roy of Bara Bazar area, and former District Chhatra League member Lokman Hossain (28), son of Azizul Haque of Naihati village of Barhatta upazila, were arrested.

In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police (Netrokona Sadar Circle) Swajal Kumar Sarkar said that despite being members of a banned student organization, various conspiracies against the current government, including organizing a procession with the aim of creating anarchy and destroying communal harmony and creating fear among the public, have been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the accused along with unknown accused.

A regular case has been registered at Netrokona Model Police Station. The arrest drive against the other accused is ongoing.
