3 members of inter-dist fraud ring arrested, truck recovered in Lalmonirhat

Under the direction of Lalmonirhat District Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam, a special operational team of the District Detective Branch (DB), Lalmonirhat, conducted drives on Sunday night in various police station areas of Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Comilla districts based on secret information and with the help of information technology.

In connection with a fraud case of Kaliganj Police Station involving transportation, the  accused are : Md  Zahidul Munshi,  Md. Robibul Islam Monir and Md. Abdur Rahman Hawlader Jashim Bhandari. 

The case of Kaliganj Police Station was handed over to OC of the District Detective Branch, Lalmonirhat, as per the instructions of the Superintendent of Police. The OC  then assigned SI  Md. Mukul Mia as the Investigating Officer.

During the investigation, questioning the complainant revealed that "M/s Shubhechha Traders" is a business engaged in buying and selling rice/paddy. On 2 July 2025, at around 10:30 a.m., through Md. Sarwar Hossain of Lalmonirhat District Truck, Tank Lorry, and Covered Van Workers’ Union (Reg. No. Raj-2494), a truck—bearing fake registration No. Dhaka Metro-T-24-7664, Engine No. BS91450142163364866, Chassis No. MAT395011E2R10822—was hired for Tk 16,500 to transport goods to Sneha Auto Rice Mill, owned by Mr. Suresh Chandra Roy, Bottoli, Dinajpur.

Truck driver Md. Zahidul Islam Dukhu alias Taizul Molla (42), son of Idris Ali Munshi alias Ishaq Molla of Jolagati village, Kawkhali Upazila, Pirojpur District (currently residing in Madaripur), along with Md. Jasim (35), son of Dhan Mahmud Sarkar of Diabetes area, Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, and Md. Sarwar Hossain (55), failed to deliver the truck and goods to the said destination.

Later, on 4 July 2025, efforts were made to trace the truck (Dhaka Metro-T-24-7664) in various places, but no trace was found. Consequently, on 28 July 2025, a case was filed at Kaliganj Police Station. During investigation, using information technology, the above-mentioned accused were arrested.

The arrested are members of an inter-district fraud ring whose primary activity is misappropriating goods under the guise of transportation. Several cases are pending against them in different police stations across the country. According to DB Officer-in-Charge Saad Ahmed, investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the fraud network.

Legal proceedings against the arrested persons are underway. Lalmonirhat District Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter in a press release.
