2450 MTs of rice imported thru' Darshana Railway Port

The Bangladesh Government will import 159,000 metric tons of rice from neighboring India. Accordingly, the first consignment of rice imported through Darshana Railway Port in Chuadanga has entered the country.
2450 metric tons of rice arrived at the Darshana Railway Yard in 42 wagons around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. The matter was confirmed by Darshana International Railway Station Manager Mirza Kamrul Hasan.
He said that after customs inspection and payment of duties, this rice coming from India will be booked in Ishwardi and Sirajganj. Then the importer will transport the rice by truck from there.
Atiyar Rahman Habu, the C&F agent assigned to unload this rice, said that M/s Majumder Agrotech International Limited of Dhaka imported this rice from Souvik Export Limited of Kolkata. The invoice price of rice per ton is $490.
Earlier, members of the C&F Agents Association of Darshana Port welcomed the Indian Railways Director Bala with flowers.
