'Janata Dal' Chairman Shamim Kamal in Rangpur : Educated, honest, patriotic l people will be our party's candidates in the upcoming polls

New political party 'Janata Dal' Chairman Brigadier General (retd) Shamim Kamal said, "Educated, honest, patriotic, and characterful people will be our party's candidates in the upcoming elections. There will be no place for thieves, robbers, money launderers, litigators, and extortionists in our party."
He said these things at the Janata Dal's Rangpur divisional exchange meeting at the Rangpur Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Thursday afternoon.
He said, "Currently many have expressed their desire to join our party. But they are not able to come out in public due to fear of lawsuits. There are 12 to 15 strong candidates in Rangpur division, none of them want to come on stage. Such a situation has been created in the country. I want to say, a level playing field has not been created in the country."
The meeting was chaired by Janata Dal spokesperson and chief coordinator Major (retd) Del H Khan, and was addressed by party vice chairman Major General (retd) Mahbubul Alam, Lieutenant General (retd) Sabbir Ahmed, Colonel (retd) Abul Kalam Mohammad Zaki, Secretary General Bir Muktijoddha Azam Khan, Joint Secretary General Major (retd) Zakir Hossain, Sylhet Divisional Organizing Secretary Major (retd) Badrul Alam Siddiqui, among others.
Shamim Kamal said that elections under the PR system are not possible in a fragile democratic country like Bangladesh. It is possible only in a civilized democratic country.
The prevailing system in our country is the past-the-post system. Janata Dal believes that the current election system is good for the parliament running in the country. However, if there is a bicameral parliament, elections under the PR system are better. In this case, each party will have representatives in the upper house.
Brigadier Shamim Kamal said, "The deep aspirations of the people regarding the July Revolution have ended in failure. The government is unable to handle the announcements made regarding the agenda of reforms, trials and elections. Except for very minor issues, there is no consensus among the major political parties in the National Consensus Commission.
On the other hand, trials are a long process. It is not possible to complete it in a short time. It is enough to try some tokens. The government should now give utmost importance to the elections."
Regarding the case, he said that the target of the incident is not the people of the political party, but the target is the people with money. The extortionists are filing cases in the names of those who have money. One party does not want anyone to raise their heads at present.
