UGC chairman visits PUST, inaugurates modern gymnasium building

Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Dr. S. M. A. Fayez and his wife Prof Dr. Babuna Fayez visited Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST) campus at 3 pm on Saturday.
They were welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam with flowers on behalf of the PUST family. UGC Additional Director (Public Universities) Dr. Mohibul Ahsan accompanied them.
At 3:30 pm, the UGC Chairman inspected various facilities and infrastructure development activities under the University's Further Development Project 2. Later, he inaugurated the newly constructed state-of-the-art gymnasium building at the university.
Later, at 4 pm, he spoke as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized with teachers, students, officers and employees in the TSC conference room.
The discussion meeting was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan and Treasurer Professor Md. Abdul Latif were present as guests in the discussion meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, the Registrar of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Iktiar Uddin, presented the overall progress and other ongoing development activities of the university, including further development projects, and details of the university family through a multimedia presentation.
In the meeting, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, extended his warm greetings and congratulations to the Chairman of UGC, Prof Dr. S. M. A. Fayez and his wife on the arrival of the Pavipravi campus. He said in his speech, "In terms of research, we are already in a leading position compared to many universities in the country. However, the limitation of research funds is a big challenge for us at present. If adequate financial support and incentives are provided, our research activities will be further expanded and will be able to reach international standards." Regarding the infrastructural development of the university, the Vice Chancellor said, "The current poor condition of some of the beautiful lakes on the campus is a matter of concern for us. If these lakes can be developed through piling, it will not only enhance their aesthetic beauty; rather, it will have a positive impact in three important areas. Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam presented the ongoing development activities of the university, future plans and various demands to the Chairman.
In the speech of the chief guest, UGC Chairman Prof Dr. S. M. A. Faiz thanked PUST Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam and said, "It is truly commendable to organize such a beautiful, orderly and meaningful program in such a short time. I sincerely congratulate the Vice Chancellor and his dedicated team." He praised the overall progress, education and research-oriented activities of PUST and further said, "The current Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam is playing a key role in the education, research and development activities of this university. Under his smart and visionary leadership, the university is moving forward rapidly."
Professor Faiz assured to keep a special eye on the university and said, “The vitality of a university lies in its research. If the teachers focus on research with dedication, the country will inevitably achieve progress.
