A 5-kilometer symbolic marathon competition was organized in Joypurhat to mark the July-August Mass Uprising Day.
On Friday morning at 6:30 AM, the event, jointly organized by the District Administration and the Department of Youth Development, commenced from the premises of the District Youth Development Office.
The event was inaugurated by District Commissioner (Joint Secretary) Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury. During her speech, she stated, "The July-August mass uprising is a glorious chapter in our national history. The extraordinary courage of students and the public during that time contributed significantly to the country’s democratic journey. This event will help the younger generation learn about this history and inspire them to be more conscious of their responsibilities towards the nation."
Among those present were Additional District Commissioner (General) Bipul Kumar, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development Matiar Rahman, District Sports Officer Goutam Kumar Sarkar, and Convener of Joypurhat District BNP Golzar Hossain, among others.
The marathon began at the Youth Development Office premises and concluded at Battali Bazar, passing through Hichmi Bazar, Komargram, and Baniyapara. Enthusiasm among the participants was evident throughout the competition. At the end of the marathon, prizes were distributed among the winners.
