Primary school charging extra exam fees in Tongibari
Tongibari (Munshiganj) Correspondent
There have been allegations of collecting examination fees from students in the second term examination at Nitira Government Primary School in Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj.
On Monday (August 25), a visit to the school showed that students were sitting waiting for the examination question papers. Many students said that a fee of Tk 50 was charged from them.
In this regard, Nitira Government Primary School Headmaster Md. Khadem Hossain said, "Earlier, no fee was charged, but now a fee is being charged and it is legal."
However, Tongibari Upazila Primary Education Officer Rafeza Khatun said, "There is no permission to charge examination fees in government primary schools. If the allegations are proven, administrative action will be taken against those concerned."
He also said, "There are instructions to provide primary education completely free of charge. The matter will be investigated."
