
National Fisheries Week ends in Gopalganj

On the occasion of National Fisheries Week-2025, the evaluation and closing of the Fisheries Week and cultural program were held in Gopalganj.
The program was inaugurated at the Gopalganj Fisheries Training Center on Sunday at 4:30 pm. The seven-day program concluded with an evaluation, closing and cultural program.
The program was presided over by Bijon Kumar Nandi, District Fisheries Officer, Gopalganj. The chief guest was Sadar Upazila Executive Officer M. Rakibul Hasan. Md. Khairul Islam, DPD (Domestic Species Fish and Snail Conservation and Development Project) was present as a special guest. Debla Chakraborty, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Sadar, Gopalganj, moderated the program.
Also present were Prant Saha, Lecturer, Gopalganj University of Science and Technology, Tanjila Akter Nipa, Farm Manager, Gopalganj, along with fish farmers, fishermen, fisherfolk, and NGO representatives.
The chief guest said in his speech:
"In addition to building sanctuaries to protect native fish species, everyone must be aware of their conservation. A social movement must be built to prevent illegal fishing."
It is mentioned that this seven-day program included fish fry release and rallies and discussion meetings. Distribution of awards among successful fish farmers.
