In a statement on Saturday, NDB Chairman Momin Mahadi, Presidium Member Bir Muktijoddha Fazlul Haque, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farzana, Vice Chairman Chandan Sengupta, Organizing Secretary Wazed Rana, and others said: “Without a proper investigation into this tragic death, the people will not believe any statement made by the interim government regarding journalist Bibhuranjan Sarkar. Therefore, we demand a fair investigation, along with an explanation as to how the body of a senior journalist was found in the Meghna River.”
NDB Chairman also demanded the enactment of a ‘Journalist Protection Act’ as soon as possible to ensure their livelihood, safety, and freedom of writing, along with government guarantees of security for journalists.
