
Fire at house of late BNP leader Nazmul in Gafargaon

Mischievous people set fire to the house of former BNP convener and freedom fighter Nazmul Haque in Gafargaon, Mymensingh in Bharail village in Jashra Union on Thursday night.
Local residents said that they saw the fire early on Friday and called the fire service. Within a few minutes, the fire brigade arrived and started extinguishing the fire. No one was at home and no one knew about the fire.
According to family sources, the house had important documents of the old BNP committee, memories of political struggles and historical party documents. Everything was burnt to ashes in the fire. Nothing from furniture to household items was saved.
Immediately after the incident, Mymensingh South District BNP Senior Joint Convener Alamgir Mahmud Alam went to the spot. ‘
He said, “It is a planned attack to erase the history of BNP. We strongly condemn this incident and demand immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for the culprits.
The eldest son of the late Nazmul Haque, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur district, Nahidul Haque, said, “I want a fair investigation and trial of this incident.”
The younger son Nadimul Haque said, “We have not only lost a house, we have lost the document of BNP’s political struggle. This is not just a fire incident, it is an attack on the existence of BNP.”
Former convener of the BNP in the city and member of the South District BNP, Fazlul Haque said, “This is part of a planned and deep conspiracy. The law enforcement agencies will take immediate action in this matter.”
Gafargaon Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Mantosh Biswas said that evidence has been collected from the scene and an investigation is underway to identify the miscreants. Meanwhile, there is local dissatisfaction and party tension over the incident.
