A coordination meeting of the Union Youth Platform was held in Morelganj upazila under the Local Government Initiative on Climate Change (LoGIC) project implemented by the Local Government Division on Tuesday in the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
UNO Md. Habibullah joined the event virtually as the chief guest, while Upazila Youth Development Officer A.K.M. Ektiar Uddin attended as a special guest. Also present were Bagerhat District Climate Change Coordinator Md. Mojibur Rahman, Joint Secretary-1 of the District LoGIC Youth Group Md. Nazmul, General Secretary Sagor Dhali, CMF members, and around 45 young representatives from various unions of Morelganj upazila.
Speakers at the meeting emphasized the active participation of youth in tackling the impacts of climate change. They noted that involving young people would help raise awareness at the grassroots level and accelerate eco-friendly development initiatives.
Organizers informed that, alongside engaging youth in addressing local climate risks, a joint action plan would be taken on eco-friendly projects including afforestation, water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and plastic waste management.
The meeting also highlighted the support of Sweden, Denmark, UNDP, UNCDF, and Impact Capital for Development.
Participants shared their own experiences, identified local problems, and exchanged views to determine future action plans.
