
Allegations of embezzlement of trees against UP chairman in Rajarhat

Abdul Kuddus Pramanik, Chairman of Gharial Danga Union Parishad No. 1 of Rajarhat Upazila of Kurigram, has been accused of embezzling eleven eucalyptus trees on the auction road and the government road behind Gatiasham Government Primary School.
Accused UP Chairman Abdul Kuddus Pramanik is the eldest son of the late Abu Khoer Pramanik, a former member of the Rajarhat Upazila Awami League Committee and a resident of Khalisha Nakhenda village of Gharial Danga Union.
According to the complaint, the locals have submitted a written complaint to the Rajarhat Upazila Executive Officer and the concerned department for cutting down eleven fresh eucalyptus trees on both sides of the road from Bhimsharma to Biani Bazar in Gharial Danga Union under the leadership of Masud Rana alias Kharku, the personal assistant of the chairman, without auctioning and embezzling revenue from the government treasury.
According to the Government Property Protection Act, cutting down government trees without prior permission from the concerned department is against the national interest? Despite contacting Gharial Danga Union Parishad Abdul Kuddus Pramanik several times on mobile phone, no statement could be obtained.
Rajarhat Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Upazila Auction Committee member Md. Asadul Haque said that the trees on the road in Gharial Danga Union were not auctioned, I would have known if they were auctioned.
Rajarhat UNO Md. Al Imran said, we have received a complaint against Gharial Danga Union Parishad Chairman Abdus Quddus Pramanik for embezzling government trees. Action will be taken after investigation.
