A tree plantation program was inaugurated under the theme "Planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh" by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Goalando Ghat Police Station in Rajbari, Mohammad Rakibul Islam on Tuesday.
OC Mohammad Rakibul Islam inaugurated the program by planting one thousand herbal tree saplings on both sides of the road in the Notun Para area of Ujanchar Union of the upazila. Also present at the time were one of the organizers of the social forestry program and municipal BNP general secretary Mojibur Rahman Moji Molla, office secretary Md. Faridul Islam and others.
Goalando Ghat Police Station OC Mohammad Rakibul Islam said, "Many saplings have been produced from a medicinal tree in the police station premises. We have planted 3,000 saplings from there through social forestry. Today, 1,000 saplings are being planted. More saplings will be planted later."
He further said, tree plantation is of immense importance in protecting the environment. Bangladesh Police is playing an effective role not only in ensuring security, but also in environmental conservation and social development." Such environmentally friendly programs are very timely and commendable in protecting the country's ecological balance, conserving natural resources, and combating the harmful effects of climate change.
