Murder case accused AL leader finally arrested in Joypurhat

Akkelpur Police arrested Abdur Rahim Swadhin, the vice-president of the Upazila Awami League and an assistant teacher of Akkelpur Pilot Girls High School, accused in the Mehdi murder case during the student-public movement against discrimination in Joypurhat. He was arrested from Akkelpur Pilot Girls High School on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested Abdur Rahim Swadhin is known to be the vice-president of the Akkelpur Upazila Awami League and the son of the master of the ace of Akkelpur Old Bazaar.
Sources said that during the July uprising, the assistant teacher of Akkelpur Pilot Girls High School and vice-president of the Upazila Awami League, Abdur Rahim Swadhin, became an accused in the Mehdi murder case. He is also an accused in the attempt to murder case. He was arrested from Akkelpur Pilot Girls High School based on a secret tip-off. Later, the accused was handed over to Joypurhat Police Station.
Confirming the matter, Joypurhat Police Station OC Tambirul Islam said that the arrested accused has been sent to jail through the court.
It is mentioned that despite being an accused in a murder case, this independent master had been roaming around in broad daylight for the past one and a half months. Recently, the newly appointed OC of Akkelpur Police Station came to know about the matter and was able to arrest him by sending a force of police officers based on a secret tip-off. The people of Akkelpur are expressing satisfaction with the police station for arresting him.
Several victims of Akkelpur Upazila said that this independent master did whatever he wanted during the previous government's tenure. He was the godfather of various terrorists, juvenile gangs and tokaids. He created anarchy in the area through land grabbing, forcible encroachment, tender rigging, extortion and various terrorist activities.
Mini had built a mirror house behind his personal office at the railway station in Akkelpur Railgate. If anyone did not listen to him, he would take them there and torture them inhumanly. The locals have demanded exemplary punishment for him so that he cannot do such things again in the future.
