Marking the anniversary of the July Uprising, Moulvibazar District BNP organized a massive victory rally that saw a sea of people take to the streets on Tuesday. 

 District BNP Convener and former municipal mayor Faizul Karim Mayun addressed the gathering and said, “Our movement has been ongoing. On this very day last year, we freed the nation from the clutches of fascist Hasina. Our only goal is a fair and neutral election, for which countless BNP and affiliated leaders have shed blood, suffered enforced disappearances, murder, and repression through false cases.”

He emphasized, “Today’s grand rally by Sadar Upazila BNP and Municipal BNP is a clear message to the government: no more delay, no more excuses — announce the election date immediately. Reforms cannot be used as a pretext to stall. Justice, reform, and elections must go hand in hand. Do what you can now, and let the elected government do the rest.”

The rally, which began at 4 PM on Tuesday from the Shaheed Minar premises of Moulvibazar Government High School, was part of the ongoing celebration of the fall of Awami fascism and the people’s victory. The rally concluded with a gathering where Mayun delivered his speech.

The post-rally meeting was presided over by Sadar Upazila BNP President Mujibur Rahman Majnu and conducted by General Secretary Maruf Ahmed. Special guests included District BNP Member Secretary Abdur Rahim Ripon and members of the district BNP convening committee Maulvi Abdul Wali Siddiqui, Alhaj MA Mukit, Advocate Sunil Kumar Das, Md. Fakhrul Islam, Boksi Misbahur Rahman, Advocate Boksi Zubair Ahmad, Manowar Ahmed Rahman, Shyamoli Sutradhar, Sadar Upazila BNP Senior Vice President Sadikur Rahman Sadik, Joint General Secretary Safiur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Kajol Mahmud, Municipal BNP Convener Syed Momshad Ahmad, Senior Joint Convener Sarwar Majumder Imon, among others.

Thousands of leaders and activists from all 13 units of the 12 unions of Sadar Upazila BNP joined the rally, marching with drums and slogans that shook the streets with anti-fascist chants.
