A Jubo League leader was slaughtered to death in Jashore in the middle of the night.
The incident took place in Daulatdihi Tarafdarpara village of Jashore Sadar Upazila after 12 midnight on Tuesday.
The victim of the murder is Rezaul Islam (50), son of Golam Tarafdar of Daulatdihi village. He was once involved in Jubo League politics. Currently, he works in agriculture. The wealthy people summoned him from his house at night and killed him. After the incident, there is panic in the entire area.
After receiving the news, several teams of law enforcement agencies including Kotwali Police Station, DB Police arrived at the scene.
The deceased Rezaul Islam was an active leader of Jubo League and has multiple cases against him, according to the law enforcement agencies. However, his rank and title could not be confirmed.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station OC Abul Hasnat said that the police are investigating the matter and are trying to arrest those involved in the incident quickly.
Confirming the murder late at night, Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Babul said that a team led by him went to the spot after receiving the information. An overall investigation is underway. The body has been sent to the morgue at the General Hospital.
Meanwhile, another source said that Rezaul has multiple cases in his name. He was known as a terror in the area during the Awami League government.
Fear and panic have spread throughout the area since the murder.
