Coast Guard conducts public awareness activities to prevent illegal fishing, protect forest resources

Bangladesh  Coast Guard has  conducted public awareness activities to prevent illegal fishing and protect forest resources.

 Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq provided this information in a press release on Thursday night. 

The press release said that since its inception, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been ensuring the security of the vast sea, coastal and riverine areas of the country, as well as conducting various public awareness activities.

In continuation of this, on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., Coast Guard Stations Koikhali, Koyra, Rupsa, Sharankhola, and Nolian organized public awareness discussion meetings among fishermen in different areas of Satkhira, Khulna, and Bagerhat districts. In these meetings, the attending fishermen were provided awareness instructions on not illegally crossing the country’s maritime boundaries, refraining from illegal fishing and the use of illegal nets, preserving forest resources, and maintaining the safety of life and property on vessels and waterways.

To ensure public safety and improve law and order, the Coast Guard will continue such activities in the future as well, the press release added.
