
Award ceremony for Anti-Corruption Essay and Debate Competition in Shyamnagar

An essay and debate competition on anti-corruption was held to raise public awareness and encourage students to practice honesty on Wednesday.
The final round of the debate competition and the closing ceremony of the essay contest took place at the Shyamnagar Officers Club, organized by the Shyamnagar Upazila Administration and Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee, along with the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Coordinated District Office in Khulna. The chief guest, Shyamnagar UNO Ms. Roni Khatun, delivered the keynote speech and distributed prizes. In her speech, the chief guest addressed the students, urging them to study diligently, respect their teachers, and build good lives. She also prohibited the use of mobile phones in educational institutions. The event was chaired by KrishnaNanda Mukherjee, retired headmaster and president of the Shyamnagar Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee. Special guests included Md. Mohsin Ali, Deputy Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Coordinated District Office in Khulna; Enamul Haque, debate competition judge and Upazila Education Officer; Md. Kamruzzaman, instructor at Shyamnagar Resource Center; Pranab Kumar Biswas, OCS Officer; and Sakibur Rahman Babla, moderator and member of the Satkhira District Anti-Corruption Committee. The program was coordinated by Manabendra Debnath, General Secretary of the Shyamnagar Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee. Also present were Mina Habibur Rahman, debate judge and Upazila Academic Supervisor; SI Biplob Hossain of Shyamnagar Police Station; Anti-Corruption Committee members Ranjit Kumar Barman and Suparna Karmakar; along with headmasters and assistant teachers from various schools. Students from 14 secondary schools and 2 madrasas in the upazila participated in the debate competition. The champion school was Sofirunnesa Secondary Girls’ School, with Nakipur Government Haricharan Pilot Model Secondary School as the runner-up. All participating students received educational materials from the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Coordinated District Office in Khulna. Additionally, certificates and crests were awarded to the champion and runner-up schools, the best speakers, and the top five essayists by the Shyamnagar Upazila Administration and Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee.
