ASSET-EBT training program inaugurated in Rangpur to enhance skills

The ASSET-EBT (Enterprise Based Training) training program was inaugurated in Gangachara Upazila of Rangpur district to enhance the skills of unemployed boys and girls on Wednesday.
It was held at the Grassroot Professional Institute, Rangpur, in Dondara area of Gangachara Upazila, next to Rangpur Sadar Upazila. Gangachara UNO Mahmud Hasan Mridha was present as the chief guest. The main speaker was the founder and president of Gangachara Development Society (GUDS) Md. Rafiqul Amin.
The program was presided over by the chairman of Grassroot Co-operation, Md. Jahirul Haque Bulbul.
Grassroots Professional Institute Executive Director and Principal Md. Anand Pallab, Trainer Shri Nayan Mahanta, Md. Nazneen Nahar, Laiju Akhter, Gausul Ara, Nurun Nabi and other employees of Grassroots Professional were also present.
At the inaugural ceremony, the speakers said that training activities are starting in these three trades: Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Tailoring and Dress Making, Book Batik and Screen Print. Executive Director Md. Anand Pallab told Daily Prothom Khabar and Country Today reporter Rakibul Islam Rakib that a total of 72 trainees per batch, 24 per trade, will be able to learn in the three-month course.
Each trainee will be provided with a scholarship of Tk 14,000. This will create employment opportunities for the youth of remote areas and will play an important role in the economic development of the society and the country by enhancing their skills. We started on a small scale so that our local unemployed children would be trained and helped in finding jobs or employment.
Khushi Akhter, a trainee in the Bokek Batik trade who was present at the inauguration ceremony, said, "Through this training center, the unemployed in our area will be able to acquire skills and become self-reliant by getting employment." The ceremony was attended by trainees from three trades and individuals from different walks of life.
